| Content | Miloslav Bureš responds belatedly to Zdeněk Zouhar's letter and informs him about the Prague preview [OPENING OF THE STUDIOS] at the National Club, which was a great success. He had many congratulations on the verses (Václav Dobiáš, Emil Hlobil, František Muzika, Václav Talich). He regrets that Bohuslav Martinů was not present. On 4 January [1956] Bureš will certainly come to Brno [for the dress rehearsal of STUDÁNEK] and tell him more, and take photographs with him.
Bureš further specifies to Zouhar the changes in recitation - the dedication text is to say "a fresh female voice", after which there is a pause and the "reciter" continues ("On summer evenings..."). Since the story is told by the old man Jáchym, everything else is said by the reciter. The next change in the recitation is at the end of the first part; Bures marked it in the book. Studánek sends a copy [of the book edition ] to Bureš Zouhar as a working copy for him and the reciter. Another copy with a dedication will be given to him personally. Bureš specifies about the reciter: 'I would like him to conceive it in a simple, Erben-like way, the verse is short, biting, like the wind in the Highlands. No pathos."
The first Studanek books were exhibited in Prague before the concert and sold well. In Polička, too, they will do so. Yesterday he signed books in Myslbek, Musilová sang "some of Martinů's songs" there. |
