Content and physical description
ContentZdeněk Zouhar asks Karel Šolc to tell him what he has ever played by Bohuslav Martinů, either alone or with St[anislav] Novák and others. [Czechoslovak Radio] is assembling recordings of BM compositions. Now they have recorded four "worlds" with the [Czech] Philharmonic. premieres of his orchestral compositions from his youth. They also want to complete compositions for solo piano. Mainly these are the cycles SUMMER SUITE, EVENING ON THE FIRE, but also others.
[below the text part of the concept of the answer by Karel Šolc's hands:] He apologizes for the delayed answer. As for BM as an artist and his interests, the matter is not simple. BM was interested in all culture (literature, music, theatre, opera, liked to draw something sometimes, etc.). He didn't talk much and almost nothing about himself, KS didn't learn much about his assessment of composers either. BM disliked [Peter I.] Tchaikovsky, Vit[erslav] Novak, [Johannes] Brahms. It was only the performance of Brahms' Symphony No. 4 by A[rthur] Nikisch during the war that brought him to Brahms. It was not until the end of the First World War that KS came to know BM as a composer.
