Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů accepts the choice of Josef Munzlinger as the director of the National Theatre's directorate for THE GAMES OF MARIA. BM is very interested in the realisation of the opera, so he writes JM some director's notes. JM is to stick to the notes in the score written in BM's hand, not those penciled into the score at the performance in Brno. The production is meant to feel like theatre on the stage, BM doesn't want dark scenes. Sister Paskalina is to be almost on the ramp during the aria so that she can interact with the orchestra. BM wants the set to be entrusted to [František] Muzik. The role of the Mariken-dancer was written by BM from the beginning for Eva Vrchlicka Jr. The characters of the Mariken-dancer and the Mariken-singer do not have to be similar, on the contrary. BM writes her new address in Paris.
