Content and physical description
ContentThe writer (UE) tells Paul Sacher that Alfred Schlee met Bohuslav Martinů on 3 October and that EPOS ON GILGAMEŠ will be published by the publisher. Unfortunately, the matter of the copyright of the English text of the oratorio has not yet been resolved. Nevertheless, the publisher assures that an agreement will hopefully be reached eventually. A. H. Eichmann has very quickly supplied a German translation of the text, which has to be gone through once more before it can be accepted. The publisher asks for patience regarding the publication dates of the piano excerpts, choral scores and individual voices. He suggests that Sacher let him know exactly when he needs all the materials.
Transcription of the letter

"[...] Herr Schlee hatte am 3. Oktober mit Bohuslav Martinu gesprochen und der ´Gilgamesch´ wird bei uns gemacht. Leider ist die ganze Angelegenheit mit den Inhabern der englischen Übersetzungs-Rechte noch nicht restlos geklärt, doch werden wir sicherlich zu einer Einigung kommen.



Herr Eichmann hat den deutschen Text zu ´Gilgamesch´ vor kurzem geliefert, wir wollen ihn noch durchsehen, bevor er eingetragen wird. Bitte gedulden Sie sich noch ein wenig bezüglich der endgültigen Termine für die Lieferung von Klavierauszügen, Chorpartituren und Stimmen. Vielleicht können Sie uns vorerst sagen, bis wann Sie dies alles benötigen werden? [...]"
