Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů received a letter from Charlotte Martinů, from which he learned that she was now in Paris to hear the Czech Philharmonic and meet Karel Novák. He advises her to tell Steigenhof her opinion and to pay her own way to the States if necessary. He has seen [Jan] Masaryk and has a meeting with him on Monday to discuss her situation.
BM's health is improving, he does not want ChM to worry. He is now out of danger, although fatigue and memories of the accident sometimes get him down. He had success with TRE RICERCARI at the Czech concert, Rudolf [Firkušný] successfully performed [Pavel] Bořkovec's Piano Concerto.
Mentions meeting with Ambassador [Juraj] Slavik and [Miloš] Šafránek. Then they visited [Marcia] Davenport, and [Walter] Schmolka was also there.
[Eugene] Ormandy performed a cantata by [Manuel] Rosenthal. RF is expecting his fiancée from London. BM informs ChM that the boat strike is over but operations will resume in 10 days. Recommends waiting for a ticket on the America if possible.
