Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů was busy with urgent work, but he is working on a composition for Otakar Hollmann [DIVERTIMENTO]. He is grateful for the sheet music sent to him and is glad that he and OH share the same opinion on the conception of this composition. BM envisages it in a chamber style, with the piano part dominating, although it is not an equilibristic pageant and the piano does not stand out from the chamber ensemble. It will be a sort of Divertimento or Mouvement with 2 oboes, clarinet, 2 bassoons, horn, 4 violins, 2 violas, 2 cellos and double bass. The scoring determines the style of the whole thing, which is conceived as an intimate concerto. The orchestra is easy to play. BM will be pleased to see OH enriching his repertoire with a piece of serious thought which is probably lacking in this style in all the piano literature. Hopefully he will be finished with the work by April 15 and send it to Prague.
