Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů thanks Jan Kunc for his New Year's wishes and for the songs he received from him. A parcel of songs arrived from Pazdirk [Martinů asked for Moravian or Slovak national songs with piano accompaniment] and Martinů was pleased to see them. BM asks Kunec for details of his offer of a professorship in composition at the Brno Conservatoire, although he has already turned it down once. The Ministry [of Foreign Affairs? Czechoslovakia] is making difficulties for him because of this refusal. BM asks Kunce to try to sway the Ministry to BM's side so that BM can stay in Paris. He writes that the premiere of the Moravian Dances [Les Rondes] should be in January and then that he will send the score to Kunce. BM describes the instrumentation of the work and assures the addressee that the parts are not particularly difficult to play.
