Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů has done his best and considers the manuscript [CONCERTA GROSSA] that the UE has as definitive. He asks BM to produce the orchestral material according to the UE score and proofread it well; there are many errors in the proofreading sheet, which probably resulted from his handwriting in the autograph. He asks them not to use the orchestral material that was produced here, as it is completely different in many places and would cause confusion. He begs that the new material and score be sent to the A.M.P., the material here cannot be used with their score. He asks if they are in touch with Ch. Munch about the Concertgebouw. He checked the list (of changes) in the score, gives note examples. He noted all corrections in the score. He has only one copy with him and there is a big difference between the manuscript and the copy, especially in the piano part. He has no way to compare, probably should have rather corrected the autograph after the copy was made.

NoteThe original letter includes musical examples.

At UE a german translation was evidently done. On one typed page, there are translations of two different BM´s letters (see ID 4294, 14.7.1948). In a top there is a german note: "A translation of both BM´s letters attached to the corrected score of CONCERTO GROSSO. 14.7.48".

On the left side of german translation, there is a german note in an unidentified hand: "This letter was recieved from Mrs. [...] on 26.4.49".

The content is almost identical with the letter ID 4294, 14.7.1948.
