Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů informs Charlotte Martinů that he has sent a parcel of peaches in her name and hopes to receive it soon. He describes his daily routine and how he prepares his food.
BM states that he still has no news about the [Prague Spring] festival and that Marie [Martinů] heard his SYMPHONY [No. 1] on the radio. He rented an apartment for two or three months from a draughtsman recommended by Etienne. BM is curious about ChM's account of Rudolf [Firkušný]. He also got a reply from [Sergei] Koussevitzky who wants to do something new in Boston and New York. BM suggests [SYMPHONY NO. 3] to [Eugene] Ormandy. BM is already composing again, but he is slow, being cautious because of the competition - premieres of works by [Igor] Stravinsky and [Arthur] Honneger. BM plans to visit Barbara (?) in Mount Kisco. Mr and Mrs Safranek are leaving for Prague. BM has no information from Prague, probably needs to rest after the Prague Spring and the ubiquitous music.
