Content and physical description
ContentAlfred Schlee has some questions about EPOS OF GILGAMES:
Since a bilingual title would not look good in a printed piano lift, Alfred Schlee suggests using only "Gilgamesh" for the binding title. The inner title page would already contain the full title in both English and German.
Bohuslav Martinů lists soprano, tenor, baritone and bass as soloists, but there is an episode for the contralto; shouldn't he also be listed among the solos? Or should the subtitle state 'for solo, chorus and orchestra' and list the soloists only in the instrumentation?
Universal Edition, Vienna will send BM a piano extract in a few days. Since they want to release it before the premiere, BM should go through it as quickly and as thoroughly as possible. He is also to give the exact duration, as he has crossed out the original information from the score.
