Content and physical description
ContentTancibudek thanks BM for his letter of 17.2.1956. Tancibudek already knows the details of the premiere of the CONCERT FOR HOBO AND SMALL ORCHESTRA - it will be on 8 August 1956 in Sydney, Sydney Symphony Orchestra, dir. Hans Schmidt-Isserstedt. Reperformances will be on 9, 11, 13 and 14 August. Tancibudek likes the concert and it reminds him of BM's 4th Symphony. Regarding payment: perhaps it will be easy to pay in Italian lira from Australia [whereas it would be difficult to pay in dollars or francs]. He will give Mr Mc Nicholl BM's Paris address. Tancibudek hopes BM will extend him exclusive operating rights, as the premiere will be later than he expected. He would be happy to play the European premiere. Next: Süsskind is now conducting the Toronto Symphony Orchestra in Canada, was impressed with the BM concert, and may try to perform the piece there (Toronto). Tancibudek read the New York Times review of BM's "What men live by" opera, congratulations. He also read in a Prague newspaper that BM is supposedly coming to Prague this year. In that case he is to greet the oboists of the Czech Philharmonic and Vaclav Smetáček.
