My dear Friend,
I am now happy to be able to tell you that Mr. Webster and representatives of the Arts Council have expressed themselves in favour of performing your opera “Greek Passion” at Covent Garden.
I have also found great interest in this work when I lunched last week with Maurice Johnstone, head of music of the BBC. They are considering transmitting it, from a stage performance here, and sharing the cost of taking the world première.
It is not possible for me to promise you yet that it will be performed in July, 1958, as the exact plans for the end of next season are still in the air.
With all good wishes,
