Content and physical description
ContentEmil Leichner (for the entire Czech Nonet) asks Bohuslav Martinů to compose a piece for their ensemble. The new work is to be performed as the culmination of a concert to mark the 35th anniversary of the Czech Nonet next year (1959), and the Nonet intends to perform it on all its tours. Leichner states that he attaches to the letter reports from the Czech Nonet's recent tour to South Africa, where the Polka in A minor BM was supposedly premiered in an arrangement for the Nonet (instr. Jan Novák). The reports, however, are not included in the copy of the letter in the possession of the Institut B. Martinů.
