ContentBohuslav Martinů regrets very much that he and his wife were unable to come to the concert in Berlin [premiere of the CONCERTO FOR PIANO AND ORCHESTRA No. 5] and is very happy that Margrit Weber was a success; thanks for the telegram and the news. They thought of MW during rehearsals and concert and are sure that the work will be heard in concert one day. BM reminds MW that this piece was written for her and belongs to her; other pianists can play it after her. Charlotte Martinu told BM that MW intends to make the work available in a Universal Edition for other performers. BM betrays her from this idea and persuades her to keep the work as an exclusive. He would like to hear it only in her interpretation.
