ContentBohuslav Martinů agrees with the programme of the concert proposed by Paul Sacher [EPOS ON GILGAMEŠOV, accompanied by two pieces by Igor Stravinsky, see Sac 1955-11-18]. It is difficult to find a suitable piece for EPOS ON GILGAMES for the programme and PS will be happy to have it on the programme together with IS.
There will be difficulties in getting the piece published. BM realises that publishers are not sympathetic to her genre and prefer works that will bring them immediate profit. BM will approach Universal Edition and Schott. Eventually it is possible to release the song in Prague, or at least have the material produced there. In any case, BM will contact Wilhelm Strecker.
Negotiations with ASCAP are lengthy and BM doubts success. What should BM do? Does he need to apply to SUISU for admission first, or does he need to send a resignation to ASCAP first? BM does not know if he can be a member of a foreign society as a US citizen. He is now waiting for a response from ASCAP. BM sent them a nine page list of European gigs and they told him they need to look into the matter. BM has also checked with his friends, but none of them know how things work at ASCAP.
BM is not happy in America, he feels tired and uninspired. There must be a lot of snow in Schönenberg.
