Content and physical description
ContentPaul Sacher thanks Bohuslav Martinů for his letter. Maja Sacher will be proud that BM dedicates her EPOS ABOUT GILGAMES.
It will probably be necessary for BM to contact the translator [Reginald Campbell Thompson?] or his publisher. What language will BM use in the work?
Sacher's choir has between 60 and 80 singers, male and female. It is an amateur choir, so perhaps BM will use the classic four-part notation without frequent internal division of individual voices. The usual number of strings in the Basel Chamber Orchestra is 10/10/8/6/4. The BM may add wind instruments at will.
Harmonium [instead of organ] would not be recommended by the PS. He suggests the use of a portable or electric organ.
For Tibor Harsányi, death was apparently a deliverance.
PS and MS salute the addressee and Charlotte Martinů.
