Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů thanks Paul Sacher for his letter. He regrets that they did not meet in New York in September. BM had gone to the mountains and that no one knew where he was. He did not return to New York until the beginning of the school year (Oct. 1) for his work.
Willi Schuh's article is very good and may be published. BM asks only that one sentence be corrected, according to which he gave up returning to Czechoslovakia. That wording could cause him problems, and there are still many manuscripts left in Czechoslovakia that he is trying to save. WS is supposed to have written that BM stayed in America because of his work as a professor at Princeton University. There is only one misstatement in the article, that BM wanted to go to South America; in fact he wanted to go to the USA. Marguerite Staehelin helped the writer with the translation of the article.
The CONCERT FOR TWO HOUSELETS AND ORCHESTRA is now exclusive, but BM will try to obtain a copy for PS.
BM has composed PASTORELS FROM STOWE for recorders for a sort of Basel Festival for next year and needs to send it to Conrad Beck;
He will soon write to the addressee about his musical activities. He and [Charlotte Martinů] greet the addressee and Maja Sacher.
