Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů thanks Paul and Maje Sacher for their letter of 27 September. They [BM and Charlotta Martinů] will probably receive their exit visas within the next week, they already have Portuguese visas and hopefully will get Spanish visas quickly. Departure will be possible around 15 October.
BM asks addressees to book him two tickets for 4 Dec or the following week. They are to send him the tickets or confirmation promptly so that he can leave with ChM in 10 to 15 days, it would be difficult to leave later. BM thanks very much for the help.
The previous day they listened to the broadcast of the concert [DVOJKONCERT led by PS] on Budapest radio, although they did not have good reception.
BM reminisced about his stay with the Sachers in 1938 and the rehearsals and premiere [of DVOJKONCERT? premiered 9 Feb 1940]. He liked Béla Bartók's composition in the broadcast. He would be happy if PS could one day conduct it in America.
PS is to send the books to Lisbon, BM will take them on the ship.
He asks for the address of Jean Rudolph and Nelly Louise Frey.
Note on page: it will be best to deposit the tickets in Lisbon and send only the confirmation to Aix-en-Provence. They might get a Spanish visa without them and then they would leave Aix-en-Provence the following week.
