Content and physical description
ContentPaul Sacher thanks Bohuslav Martinů for his letter to him and to BKO. He is delighted that the Triton Society wants to perform this orchestral concert [among other things, a DOUBLE CONCERT]. Today he received a telegram with a proposed date for the concert on 20 March. Unfortunately it does not suit him, he would rather prefer a period between 6 and 14 April to allow time for rehearsals.
PS gives details of the programme for the concert: Willy Burkhard - Concerto for String Orchestra, Op. 50 (25 mins); Igor Stravinsky - Dumbarton Oaks (12 mins 30 secs); from the original French work, the writer suggests a ten-minute piece by Jean Françaix, which he discussed with BM [Sérénade pour petit orchestre? see ID 920], or Jacques Ibert (Divertissement), or Albert Roussel (Concerto for small orchestra, Op. 34).
PS could supply material for the WB piece; material for the IS piece should be in Éditions Max Eschig.
PS also sends his regards to Charlotte Martinů. He transcribes the text of his telegram regarding the date of the planned concert.
Is the descriptive number in BM's address 14 or 17?
