ContentBohuslav Martinů is glad to finally have news from Karel Šebánek. He hopes that they explained to him in Polička why he (BM) did not write. BM has information that the situation with the performance of his works at home has changed, but so far he has not seen any results (except for ŠPALÍČEK). He wants objective information from KS about the new Czech Music Fund, its relationship to Orbis or the State Publishing House, and in what way it would be important for him. He would need the Librettist to be close by so that they could arrange everything quickly. He plans to do a grand opera [?], but the text cannot be done through correspondence and it is difficult to compose on a finished libretto. He hasn't done much for it himself. He is now writing an opera on Goldoni's Locandiera [MIRANDOLINA]. He asks if this play has been translated at home. He did the text himself, and is writing the opera to an Italian text. It hasn't been possible with his arrival [in Czechoslovakia] this year, but all indications are that he will one day go there. He received reports from home that the winter was severe. He tries to help them as much as he can, but old age is also beginning to get to him. If KS meets Vítězslav Nezval, he is to remind him that he promised to go to Polička for the weekend to visit his BM siblings. He would make them happy. [He will stay in Nice until autumn and then he doesn't know. Maybe he will stay in Europe. He hopes KS will soon get to "that favorite place".
