Content and physical description
ContentMs. Matulkova, Librarian, Webster Branch N. Y. Public Library, has asked JL to send Elman an English translation of a text he wrote some time ago for the London weekly "Czechoslovak" about the BM Violin Concerto, so he is sending it to him. He does so for two reasons: firstly, because he greatly admires Elman's interpretation of the BM Violin Concerto, and secondly, because he had a request to make in connection with this work: he knows that Elman has had the exclusive right to perform the Violin Concerto for two years, but there is an excellent Czech violinist in Mexico, Emil Friedman, who would very much like to perform the work in Mexico City. BM has no objections and is willing to lend him the material, but wants Elman's permission. The performance would be limited to this Friedman concert in Mexico City under Chavez or Wleiber.
