Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů cannot even imagine how he was missed in Vienna during the performance of the EPOS ON GILGAMEŠ. They would have been so happy if he could have celebrated it with them too. In the meantime, he must have received a tape that his assistant recorded directly from the broadcast. Because Dr. Paul Sacher left early the morning after the performance, Alfred Schlee could not hear it himself. It will probably have technical imperfections, as most all private recordings do, but it will give BM an accurate picture of its success with listeners. He didn't even have the patience [apparently PS] to wait for countless audience invocations. He hopes that BM will soon recover in the pleasant atmosphere of Sacher's house and begin composing a new comic opera. In the meantime, he has gone through several sujets and will write to him about them, unless he finds a suitable subject himself. Perhaps he will see him in September when he goes to Italy.
