Content and physical description
ContentHe remembers his father playing a Martinů (piano) Sonata that was written for him. He was 9 or 10 years old at the time, and he was intrigued by this very new piece. He even recorded it on tape, but it was soon lost. He doesn't expect to find it again, but if he does, he'll let you know. He'll check his father's library in Vermont to see if there's a copy of the Sonata with possible notes by the author. Martinů and his father were good friends. Unfortunately, he doesn't have any other information about the Sonata that he can provide. But he would very much like to hear this work again, the last time he heard it then - in 1956 or 1957. If he (Entwistle) had a recording of his performance, he would ask him for a copy if he didn't mind. He thanks and wishes him well.
