ContentHe came back fresh from Italy. He is surprised that he did not have to pay anything and hopes that the misunderstanding with the cheque will be resolved. He wasted a lot of time with the first opera (unfinished), with Dostoevsky, and then waiting for the Italian who was supposed to help him with the text of La Locandiera. He wanted to catch up with the composition because he wouldn't feel like writing in the spring, so he neglected Frank. From Prague he was asked to write a text for a celebration of Dvořák. Novák wrote to him and was pleased that his works were being performed more often. He had no happy news from home.
