Content and physical description
ContentHe replies to the letter of 5.12; he wrote to BM openly that he had not succeeded in placing either the opera (Three Wishes) or The Tempest; "all my attempts have failed", but he promised further help in promoting it; he was also told by Mr. Benda, director of the music department of the Berlin radio, that he wanted to perform the Sextet later in the year and had requested the Rave, perhaps for performance on the Berlin radio; "this is certainly not much"; he begged to tell BM; he had not yet received Three Wishes back from Klemperer; he also told BM that there was "not much mood for it in the state opera house Am Platz der Republik"; would it be possible to get Stravinsky to recommend BM to Klemperer?; this would have "the greatest effect"; Stravinsky will come to Berlin in January; when he receives Three Wishes back he will offer it to Brecher in Leipzig and Busch in Dresden; that is all he can do for the moment; he has interrupted the translation of the opera, begging for understanding that he is too busy; he does not want to do the translation "in vain" until he is sure of the performance; the great theatres know French, there is no need for a German text until they decide to perform the opera; he mentions to Herr Hajek the necessity of giving BM "extraordinary support"; he will do so verbally, not in writing; he has received and given the book "Bécon-les Bruyeres" to his daughter.
