ContentB. Martinů informs about a new version of the CONCERTO FOR VIOLONCELLO No.1: P. Fournier has one score, Schott owns another score and a manuscript for making copies. The solo part is identical to the version in the score, but PF is to make any corrections in it if he finds awkward places and communicate them to Schott for the new edition before it goes to press. He may keep some of the difficult passages from the earlier version for himself, but BM wishes the solo part (for the edition) to be now only difficult, but not excessively difficult, and therefore accessible to other performers. He also asks if he would add bowing and fingering to the part and check the metronome. Schott (Strecker) promises to produce a piano extract, which they send to him to correct the errors. He also promised (Schott) that the material would be ready for the Lausanne concert. BM again reminds us that the solo part does not contain many changes. He concludes by informing us of his stays: in Besancon from 2 to 4 September, in the Vieux Moulin until 16 September, then in Basel with Sacher.
