Content	B. Martinů, after exhaustive work, has completed a new version of the concerto [CONCERT FOR VIOLONCELLO AND ORCHESTRA; see Fou 1955-06-19]. The orchestration has been completely redone so as not to disturb the solo, some things have been cut, and the tutti have been much modified. He sends him a copy of the score, the old score, and the corrected solo part. He also sends the score to Schott and asks him to create material and, if possible, a piano lift, as he no longer has the strength himself. He asks Fournier to check the cello part to see if there are any awkwardnesses for the cello, and to correct them so that everything is in order in the new edition. He asks that Fournier never play another version full of mistakes and with bad orchestration overlaying the cello. He leaves on 5 October.
