In January 2009, the Bohuslav Martinů Institute was offered a purchase of an autograph of a hitherto completely unknown piano composition by Bohuslav Martinů entitled The Victorious March of R.U.R. Sports Club of Polička, H 189bis. It is a short, funny composition from July 1, 1921, as stated by the composer on the title page, embellished with a cute drawing, depicting the composer with a typical "mouse" face, applauding from the bench to the successful attack of his team, which won with a sensational 19:3 result! On four sheets and a small fifth leaf, a humorous triumphal march takes place, full of playfully exaggerated dynamic signs (from ff through a written instruction 'just don't be afraid' through a few crescendos to the final 'ffffffffff') and verbal notes, culminating in the interpreter's final shout "Hi!” The discovery of the Victory March expands the knowledge of the beginnings of Bohuslav Martinů's compositional work and with its sports theme, it anticipates (in a much more modest form) his orchestral composition Half-Time, H 142, created only three years later and capturing the atmosphere of a football break.
