The film music for the third act of Martinů’s film-opera Three Wishes or Life’s Vicissitudes, H 175 (1929) consists of seven parts. The third act of the opera was composed specifically between April 8 and May 28, 1929. The film music is inspired by the dance and jazz rhythms of the period in which the opera was composed (foxtrot, waltz, tango). Unlike the symphonic interlude in the same act, Departure, H 175 A, this music was never published separately.
