The Rhythmic Etudes for String Orchestra are an arrangement of Etudes Nos. 1, 2, and 6 from the cycle Rhythmic Etudes for Violin and Piano, H 202. This arrangement was written in 1958 with the composer’s permission by Rudolf Baumgartner. The work was first performed under his baton on August 20, 1958, in Lucerne, Switzerland, by the Festival Strings Lucerne.
