Early of a Morning I Am Out A-Weeding (Ráno raníčko, pleju obilíčko, 1912), H 49, pursues an analogy between the equilibrium of the natural world and the inconsolability of the (presumably) rejected lover, and is notable for the abruptness of its conclusion. The recording of the composition was released for the first time by Naxos in 2014 (Martinů: Songs, Vol. 2 – The Months; Jana Wallingerová, Giorgio Koukl).
