Instructive Duo for the Nervous People (Instruktivní duo pro nervózní, H 145) was printed in Lidové noviny on 15 March 1925 (p. 15) as a facsimile of the original description. This was shortly after the premiere of the composer's ballet Who is the Most Powerful in the World (Kdo je na světě nejmocnější, H 133) held in Brno. This ametric miniature (already written in Paris) seems to have the singular aim of being a “rhythmic puzzle” – for nervous players, and possibly also for audience. The designation “duo” probably derives from the relative isolation of the pianist's two hands, a “duet of hands” that are not easy to “play together” here.
