From the composition Tango and Allegretto for Piano, composed by Martinů in 1929, there are only two eight-measure incipits that have been preserved. The fragments of the score contain dedications to Z. Vystavělová (Tango) and Věrka Vystavělová (Allegretto). These incipits were probably part of the composer's improvisation during a performance of Luigi Pirandello's play Six Characters in Search of an Author at the theater in Polička on August 29, 1929 (see H 179).
