Martinů composed Three Lullabies for voice and piano accompaniment in May 1925 during his stay in Paris. The titles of the individual lullabies are 1. Přede dveřmi strom spí již (The Tree At The Door Now Slumbers), 2. Ty sladce spíš (You Sleep) (author of the text is Gustav Falke) and 3. Hýčkán a láskou tak v polospánku jen (Rocking and Swaying) (author of the text is Wilhelm Raabe). The work is dedicated to Mrs. Melicharová (“À Madame Melicharová”). The source is now owned by the Bohuslav Martinů Institute in Prague, but the work has never been published.
