During his stay in Paris, Martinů recalled his friend from Pardubice, Olga Žalmanová, to whom he had sent Note into a Scrapbook (Lístek do památníku) for piano in a letter from Paris on March 8, 1932. However, the autograph score bears a dedication to her sister, Jitka Žalmanová. The piece was first performed on June 19 in 1955 in Biberbach (Germany) by Emma Kovárnová.
