The symphonic movement A Dream of the Past was composed in Prague in 1920. Martinů wrote “Háj satyrů, II. věta” (Grove of Satyrs, Movement II) in pencil on the cover of his autograph. It is therefore the second part of the three-part orchestral cycle Háj satyrů. The other two movements are missing. The autograph includes the tempo marking – Lento, which, according to Harry Halbreich, supports the impressionistic character of the piece. The premiere took place on October 16, 2009, in Brno, performed by the Brno Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Jakub Klecker.
