| Note | Half-brother of Bohuslav Martinů, an extramarital child of his mother Karolina Martinů (nee Klimešová). He was almost 17 years older than Bohuslav and he trained as a typographer at the Popelka printing shop in Polička. Later on, he moved to Prague, where he settled permanently. He was the only one among the Martinů siblings to have children: a daughter Elsa (married name: Umlaufová) and a son Karel. |
