Note | American violist, composer and sought-after pedagogue especially in chamber music. For a long time, she was a member of the Perolé String Quartet, gave concerts together with her brothers and, later on, also with her two daughters, under the moniker of the Lillian Fuchs Trio. She worked at several music schools and summer classes, including the Manhattan School of Music (1962 – 1991), the Aspen Music Festival and School (1964 – 1990) and the Julliard School of Music (1971 – 1993). Some composers were inspired by Lillian Fuchs’s artistry and wrote pieces for her, including Martinů. |
