The Bohuslav Martinů Institute database of sources provides a complete account and thorough characterisation of materials of a source nature gathered in the library in the form of copies. The core of the database is complete catalogue of works, providing information about all Martinů pieces. Each composition is accompanied by a list of sources, including their detailed physical description, and list of editions of a work. The other part of the database includes records of correspondence pertaining to Bohuslav Martinů and his work. The system also process a list of persons and corporations that appear in letters or are in some other manner related to items filed in the database. The database lists Martinů photographies, his own drawings, artistic images of the composer and images from performances of Martinů stage works. Some items are digitized and can be accessed online.

The database includes mostly materials of a source nature. Other documents are processed in the catalogue of the library of the Bohuslav Martinů Foundation. The library holds titles dedicated to Bohuslav Martinů as well as basic musicological literature focused on the music of the twentieth century, as well as editions of Martinů music, articles, concert programs, and an extensive audio and video library.
