Content and physical description
ContentErick Hawkins thanks Robert Fitzgerald for his prompt reply [letter HawE 1948-04-28a]. He will explain everything to [Bohuslav] Martinů and I am sure everything will be as RF wishes. It is not that EH did not see the meaning of the sentences they wanted to strike out. Rather, it seemed that their meaning might be obvious from the action on the scene, and that they were therefore unnecessary. But they have no doubt that RF is right and it is a matter of the way to say these verses to achieve the full meaning. EH will keep Robert Fitzgerald informed as Martinu progresses.
