Content | Egon Seefehlner asks Alfred Schlee to negotiate with Prof. Karel Novák of the Czech Philharmonic, [Rafael] Kubelík and the Ministerial Councillor from the Ministry of Information [?] Navratil about two guest concerts of the Czech Philharmonic under Kubelík's direction on 18-30 June [pencilled in the margin "Autumn?"].
The orchestra would receive 10-12,000 shillings for each concert and would have its stay in Vienna financed. Travel expenses would be covered by the Czech side. Kubelík and the soloists would be paid separately. The programme of the two concerts would be devoted to Austrian and Slavic masters, especially Martinů, Shostakovich, Ritky [Jaroslav Řídký]. It would be wonderful if Alfred Schlee could create a contract for them on the basis of this letter, but since the matter also depends on the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Information, the [Czech] Philharmonic and Kubelík, ES does not think it will be possible.
ES also asks to arrange a second concert with Kubelík, as previously agreed, with four or five rehearsals for the second half of April, with the participation of his wife. This concert is very important to ES and he would be happy if AS could arrange it for 20 April. The honorarium is a secondary issue. |
