Content and physical description
ContentKarel Boleslav Jirák tells about complicated relations with institutions and personalities of musical life in Czechoslovakia. He also talks about his time in America. The two concerts he played with the university orchestra in the past academic year were a great success. There is a possibility of a trip to Europe to celebrate the centennial of the Chicago Musical College. KBJ does not forget Czech music; the first concert began with the Vltava River. He doesn't like the way Hungarian conductors play Dvořák. The problem is that "we only have Kubelík, and he is not enough for everything". He talks about his meeting with members of the Prague Chamber Orchestra who came to the USA. He did not like the sound of the oboes. He talks about his plans for the summer and the weather in America. In the letter he mentions, among other things, the intrigues after his departure from Czechoslovak Radio.
