| Content | After many hardships, Bohuslav [and Charlotte] Martinů have finally arrived in New York, they are trying to forget everything and continue their interrupted work. BM is now taking advantage of the quieter day to write to Darius Milhaud and get him greetings from his mum, Mr Milhaud and the whole Aix family, they are all thinking of DM constantly. BM and ChM often visited his parents and talked about him. They receive messages about DM often, but it is still not enough for his mom, she would like to have him close to her. BM and ChM were happy [in Aix] against all circumstances, stayed for nearly five months, and BM enjoyed working there on Mr. [Gibelin?'s] bad piano. The city and surroundings are beautiful, he would like to go back there. They had news of DM's concert, the reception and Madeleine's speech, everyone was very pleased. Their mutual friends [Marcel] Mihalovici and [Tibor] Harsanyi are in Cannes, [Alexandre] Tansman in Nice, [Henri] Martelli and [Emmanuel] Bondeville, [Barcan?] in Marseille, [Georges] Auric was also in Marseille but returned to Paris, DM surely already knows all this from his mother. Everything is different in New York, but they have gotten used to this new life a little, they have been very well received. BM found many friends here, [Diran] Alexanian, [Maurice] Eisenberg, [Grzegorz] Fitelberg and also Mr. and Mrs. Šafránek, who send their regards to DM. They will be happy if the DM calls them when he has a moment of peace. DM is also to say hello to [Elisabeth Sprague-]Coolidge, BM has already written to her as well.
