Dear Mr. Martinu:

This is to advise that we have forwarded today to your account at Bankers Trust Company in New York our check for two thousand dollars ($2,000) which represents payment in full for the work commissioned from you for the Cleveland Orchestra’s Fortieth Anniversary season.

I regret that there has been this delay but, as you probably know, the office had been without a manager for several weeks and I have only recently assumed his duties.

I have long been an admirer of your music and look forward to hearing the new work with considerable anticipation.

Sincerely yours,

A. Beverly Barksdale,

Manager
