Content and physical description
ContentErnst Roth regrets that he was unable to attend the negotiations with Aria because of his health, but he was fully informed. He is very happy that the contract regarding the Martins has been signed. He warns, however, that it will take some time before the expected success and results are seen and further orders are placed. Boosey & Hawkes will distribute a catalogue which includes works by Martinů, but there are delays in printing due to the approach of Christmas and the high demand. ER points out that there have been no orders for Martinů works from Artia, but understands that once sample copies are received, there must be a proper examination. B&H have also not withheld any materials from Artie, but ER believes there will be no cause for complaint from either side. The Czech Music Fund has already commissioned symphonic works. The letter discusses the removal of the Leoš Janáček works from Boosey & Hawkes and the commencement of collaboration with Universal Edition.
