Dear Sirs,
I beg to apologise for replying only today to your letter of the 15th May about the Martinu biography by Milos Safránek, but I wanted to find out first from our New York house how many copies they would need. I now understand that they will order from you direct for direct supply to New York 250 copies.
I am afraid I cannot order any such quantity because, unfortunately, Martinu is not sufficiently wellknown in Britain and in the Commonwealth countries and the best I can do is to order 100 copies. I do not know whether this would be sufficient for you to make it a common publication, but at the moment I really cannot see how I can dispose of a greater quantity.
No doubt you will let me know the price before you supply because this too is of great importance.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely,
Dr. E. Roth
Director.
