Born on 13 March 1903 in Slane, where he later apprenticed under František Holub as a bookseller (1918-1921).
1922-1924 accountant in the publishing house of Fr. A. Urbánek
1924-1925 in the army
1926-1929 accountant in Jan Hoffmann's publishing house
1929-1940 head of the assortment of the Music Matrix of the Artistic Society.
In 1939, he applied for a concession for concert management, but in 1940 it was withdrawn "on the basis of a prepared concert of works by Bohuslav Martinů, at that time undesirable".
1940-1946 in charge of setting up and managing the music department of the Orbis
1946-1949 Director of the music publishing house Melantrich
in 1949 commissioned by the Ministry of Information to establish the National Music Publishing House, but in
1952, he had to leave within three days without giving any reasons.
from March 1953 he was employed in the music department of n.p. Kniha.

He worked with a number of music publishers and supported Czech composers such as Richard Zika, Bohuslav Martinů, Václav Kapral and Vítězslava Kaprálová, Miroslav Krejčí and others.
