| Content | Bohuslav Martinů wrote, if he still hasn't written back to Karel Šebánek, Marie Martinů thinks he will do so soon. BM writes that he has received a letter from KS, but that he has had a lot of correspondence, and has neglected many replies because he is in a hurry to finish the opera [Mirandolina] so that it can be offered to theatres for the next season. BM writes that they have published a nice catalogue of BM's published things in Prague and asks if KS could arrange to send one to the Martin family and one to Mrs. Frances Ježková - 304 East 71st St. New York, and one also to Boosey & Hawkes. BM still hasn't finished with Prague, it's not a good time for BM to arrive, trying to be patient and not lose hope.
František Martinů wrote to KS that he will go to Pardubice for treatment after his arrival home, the Chief Medical Officer says he is hopeful that things will improve. MM found herself in hospital during their stay in Prague, where she is still, but hopes to go home after Sunday. On the third day after they left she was sick and when it recurred they took her away, she couldn't stay home alone. They were very surprised that Mum and Sister [KS] were going home again, it must be a big worry, MM thinks they might get used to it, although it is not like home - "but when you can't, you have to make a lot of allowances". When Francis comes back from Pardubice, they will write to KS how it went. MM thanks for Musical Views. |
