ContentHe immediately replies to Karel Šebánek's letter, so that he knows that he has arrived safely with the "ticket". He also expresses his heartfelt thanks for those brought by Jindřiška [Martinů]; František [Martinů] had intended to go to Prague, but her illness (Marie Martinů) kept him away. Stáňa [Novák] must have told him that after the New Year MM was in hospital with pneumonia. Then came the worsening of Karolina Martinů's illness and her death, which made it harder for MM to go to bed again. It was only these days that she was able to go to KM's grave. It is still very cold here and so she can hardly go out. She has not written to the Swiss about KM's death, she does not know if they have any connection at all. She would like to spare Bohuslav Martinu the news for as long as possible. MM has had no news from them [presumably the Sachers?] for a year and a half. If František [Martinů] decides to go to Prague, he will certainly visit KS.
