ContentHe thanks Karel Šebánek for his letter and says: The altarpieces are good, signed by Jos. Rotter from Brno, year 1751 and 1753. The paintings of the Evangelists in an oval, without signatures, are also valuable. Weaker is the cycle from the life of Christ, also unmarked. The Stations of the Cross is by Johann Dittman from 1833. Could not ascertain how far the paintings are damaged, they are placed high up. The four or so altarpieces (smaller, 330x160) will certainly need to be rentoiled. The others will hopefully suffice to be cleaned and restored. However, the true condition will be ascertained when a committee from the Brno Monuments Office arrives and the parish priest has scaffolding erected so that the paintings can be thoroughly inspected. The church here in Bystrém used to belong to the Polička district, but it was abolished and now belongs to Letovice and therefore falls under Brno. He asks KS if he could find out the prices for both cases: 1. that the paintings would need to be rentoiled, possibly even taped and engraved. 2. That it would be enough to revive and re-christen them. He would then submit a budget for both options and only after a thorough investigation would he submit a final budget. His point is to know the prices for this work, so that he would not hopefully undercut, which might inspire distrust.
